SBNOR: On track with the realization of Sparebanken Norge

2026-08-11 11:00:00
Sparebanken Norge is delivering a return on equity above target while staying on
track to become Norway's national savings bank.

Sparebanken Norge reports a pre-tax profit of NOK 2,252 million in the second
quarter of 2026. The return on equity (ROE) is 14.0% while ROE adjusted for
merger effects amounted to 16.0% for the quarter.

"Achieving a return on equity above target is a strong performance, particularly
as we are managing significant merger-related costs, realizing cost synergies
and investing in new distribution channels" says CEO Jan Erik Kjerpeseth.

Strong lending growth in both the corporate and retail markets
Gross lending to customers amounted to NOK
504.9 billion at the end of the second quarter. Lending to retail customers
increased by 2.1% during the quarter, while lending to corporate customers
increased by 2.3%.

The bank is on track with the expansion into new market areas and, during the
quarter, completed the recruitment of all leadership positions, established
strong advisory teams, and increased market shares. Over the course of the next
12 months, Sparebanken Norge will establish a presence in three additional
places: Tromsø, Mo i Rana and Trondheim.

"It is encouraging to see that we continue to gain market share both in the
retail and corporate banking segments. The growth is a result of focused and
dedicated efforts across the Group over time and demonstrates the ability to
deliver on ambitions. At the same time, several of the new market areas are
still in the establishment phase, which supports our expectations of strong
growth in the years ahead," says Kjerpeseth.

Strong growth in other income

Net fee and commission income increased to NOK 521 million during the quarter.
The underlying performance was driven in part by strong results in payments,
insurance, asset management, and real estate brokerage.

The Group's product companies also made a positive contribution to overall
performance. Borea Asset Management delivered particularly strong results during
the quarter, with assets under management increasing by NOK 4.5 billion to NOK
29.8 billion at the end of the quarter, representing growth of 18% during the
quarter.

As a result of this strong performance, the expectation for assets under
management is raised from NOK 34 billion to NOK 50 billion by the end of 2029.
Borea Asset Management is growing rapidly, broadening the Group's income base,
and has the potential to become an increasingly important contributor to Group
earnings in the years ahead.

"Our performance demonstrates the strength of our business model. We continue to
build on our strong positions in savings, financing, insurance, and capital
markets, and we see significant opportunities for further growth and value
creation across the Group," says Kjerpeseth.
