Oakville, ON / Sherbrooke, QC, Canada, 4 November 2025 - Tekna (OSE: TEKNA), a
world-leading provider of advanced materials to industry, has entered a
strategic partnership with Burloak Technologies (Burloak), Canada's leading
additive manufacturing (AM) company, to supply materials for the production of
more than 50 000 satellite components. The collaboration supports Burloak's role
in manufacturing advanced flight hardware for the MDA AuroraTM program.
Under the agreement, Tekna will supply aluminum metal powders engineered for use
in high-performance aerospace applications. The powders, produced through
Tekna's proprietary Plasma Atomization process, are certified to meet AS9100D
aerospace quality standards as well as the recently obtained Nadcap
accreditation for metallic powder manufacturing, ensuring exceptional
consistency, mechanical performance, and part integrity.
"We are pleased to collaborate with the Tekna team. By joining forces with a
global leader in advanced materials, we are able to deliver critical 3D printed
flight hardware in the satellite industry," said Jason Ball, General Manager of
Burloak.
Additive manufacturing is transforming how satellites are built, enabling highly
complex, lightweight, and performance-optimized structures that traditional
methods cannot match. Burloak's use of Tekna's high-purity powders allows for
unprecedented design freedom and performance efficiency in components such as
antennas, mounts, and structural supports.
"It is always an honor to collaborate with innovation leaders like Burloak,"
said Claude Jean, CEO of Tekna. "We see strong global demand-and growing
momentum in Canada-for additively manufactured satellite components. Together,
we're helping shape the future of space manufacturing."
Both companies are deeply rooted in innovation and are committed to advancing
the national and global space manufacturing ecosystem. This partnership
leverages the strengths of two industry pioneers-Tekna in advanced powder
metallurgy and Burloak in full-lifecycle additive manufacturing-to provide
aerospace OEMs with cutting-edge, flight-ready components.
